Summary
British Pathe synopsis: "The Cottage was a thatched one"... the work as ancient as the sands of time...rush weaving..." L/S of a group of elderly women working outside an old building. C/U of a NoSle of rushes. "...and plaiting..." C/U of hands plaiting the rush as it hangs down from the side of the building. "...and coiling..." C/U of a basket being made. "...and trimming..." C/U of the finished basket - complete with lid - being trimmed. "...provide ideal home work for the womenfolk of old St Leonards...rush work without a "rush". C/U of variety of baskets and rugs made by the crafts women. C/U of one of the baskets. Various baskets are shown to the camera. L/S of the women packing their wares into a buggy pulled by a horse.
