Summary
British Pathe synopsis: Sands of Vendee. "Salt Lake, U.S.A. isn’t the only place where they reclaim condiments from the water - they do it in Western France.." L/S of field which is divided up into small flooded strips. A man walks around the edge of one of the strips. M/S of the man standing on a raised section of the field. Piles of salt can be seen in between each flooded section. "Each of these "sections" contains salty sea-water - the hot sun does the rest..." L/S of a woman working on the salt flat. C/U of one of the sections of salty water. Tilt up to show the sections stretching out. "Evaporation is the thief of time here." Man pushes the water with a long brush device. "The week’s best seller" Girl stands beside a huge pile of salt, picking up handfuls and letting it run through her fingers.
