Summary
NoS Summary - Beauty contest by a pool-side.
British Pathe synopsis: Margate, Kent. "Lines of physical excellence, to be exact, and a crowd of experts (unofficial) to judge them." High angle shot of large number of women walking beside the edge of an outdoor swimming pool in their swimsuits. 50 or more women in a beauty contest. Closer view of the girls as they parade past the camera - all sorts of shapes and sizes. "Incidentally, these two watchers paddled all the way from Amsterdam to see this." L/S of two men in a small rowing boat on the sea. Closer view of the men. High angle shot of the girls, this time they have numbers pinned to their swimsuits. C/U of one of the girls as she walks underneath the camera. "Form at a glance - and everybody trying to spot the winners." All the girls lift their arms into the air. They then perform various exercises by the pool, bending their knees and posing for the camera, touching their toes, etc. M/S of group of girls and male admirers applauding. Two of the girls stand on a diving board and perform their exercises. C/U of a girl wearing the number 2. "I’ve found the winners", said Leslie Fuller, the famous Comedian." M/S of him standing on the diving board with three of the girls. They crouch down and stand up again. Leslie loses his balance slightly.
