Summary
NoS Summary - A Sun Bathing Society has fun on a sunny day in Hampshire.
British Pathe synopsis: "Filmed at Petersfield in Hampshire". "Every now and again this Climate of ours permits us to forget about the incubus of clothes and Sun Bathers achieve a prominent place in the sun - " M/S of group of children in their underpants (girls as well as boys) sitting cross legged on a playing field. They do exercises, lifting their arms and lowering them. L/S of a running race, boys run towards the tape. Panning shot of children and young people sitting in the sun applauding. "The Sun", the Sun Bathing Society says, "is sent to us for our supreme good - so utilise it to the full - " L/S of a high jump, various people jump over the pole. The girls wear bikinis and the boys large underpants or shorts! Tug of war - men and women compete with each other. A man dressed in a large dressing gown shouts encouragement. "Nothing but good health", they declare, "will come to those who discard the superfluous garments of Society and go back to mother Nature - (nearly)" Girls have a running race in bikinis. M/S of group of people in their sun wear waving at the camera. "There’s no harm in having a laugh - " M/S of girls in bikinis (or underwear) having an egg and spoon race. Shots of the girls, and a young man running towards the finishing tape. "But, a sunny day and a light load are the best ingredients to bring the glow of health to vigorous frames in these modern fresh-air times - " The youngsters race against each other around a park or playing field. It is some kind of relay race as they pass each other something as they meet each other. One woman slips over as she runs along. After they have passed the object on they have to do speed walking to get back to the finishing line. C/U of group of young girls in their underwear applauding the race.
