Summary
NoS Summary - a fold up caravan that can be put up in 3 minutes.
British Pathe synopsis: We are shown the newest in "covered wagons" for camping. A woman drives an open topped car with a girlfriend sitting beside her. They are towing a fold up caravan behind the car. They are driving along grass. "Its lightweight construction permits it to be pulled by a 7 h.p. car with practically no effect on the car’s performance." Another shot of the girls driving along. "There’s even a natty little brake that comes into action when the car stops - " C/U of the brake which is on the rod which holds the caravan to the car. "When you’ve found the right spot, three minutes sees your trailer-caravan ready for occupation." The girls jump out of the car, throw off their coats and pull open the top of the covered wagon. We see the various processes involved in making this expanding wagon habitable. "Everything for your use, except a swimming bath -" C/U of the girls inside the wagon. They open out doors of a cupboard which has plates and a teapot inside. Cooking utensils including a camping stove with a kettle on top are also shown. M/S of the girls getting things out of a drawer and setting up a table inside the wagon for afternoon tea. "Everything can be done inside the caravan - even the washing-up." The girls do just that. "Where my caravan is rested, very much up-to-date - " The girls look out of the back of the caravan and wave at the camera. Then they pull down the flap of the caravan so that we can’t see them any more. M/S of one of the girls in bed, she pulls the covers over herself. (The flaps are now open to the elements again and it is daytime!) "The caravan can be totally enclosed when desired." Side view of the caravan. "A few minutes only is necessary to close the trailer..." The girls fold the whole thing down again. They turn and smile at the camera. "...and then to pastures new." They drive off down a country lane.
