Summary
COI synopsis: A challenge to Britain’s traditional hall of learning from three of the new universities. Lancaster students have participated in the administration of the university from the very beginning. Student power - and responsibility - is happily accepted by all. At York, examinations are no longer a trial - or are they? Text books and notes are allowed in the examination room. Sussex - the first of the new universities - has a flexible curriculum which enables students to change courses at any time. Is this unsettling? Does it lead to less specialization? All new universities - busy, brash, but fun for staff and students alike.
