Summary

COI synopsis: The reality of scientific advance is a far cry from the man who lept from his bath shouting "Eureka!" It is the culmination of painstaking research and precision testing. Getting animals to mate in captivity is notoriously difficult - the giant panda being the most obvious example. Researchers at London Zoo have calculated readiness to mate and likelihood of conceiving, by painstakingly tracing sex hormone levels in a female’s urine. Their work with the orang outang has born fruit - perhaps the elusive baby panda could be next.
