- Summary
- COI synopsis: Science and technology is constantly at work searching for ways to help the farmer and the horticulturist to speed things up and improve output. The British potato harvest adds up to over four and a half million tons. Sorting out the rotten or scabbed potatoes from that lot is a massive task which takes time. It’s normally done by hand, but an electronic "wand" which can memorise the position of a bad potato on a conveyor belt has speeded up the process. It can now be done in a third of the time.
