- Summary
- COI synopsis: Huge increases in the volume of air traffic pose problems, of logistics and safety, for the airports of the world. This programme looks at some of the new technological aids in use at airports like London’s Heathrow, which help to maximise efficiency and minimise risk. The job of the air traffic controller, in monitoring the activity of incoming and outgoing aircraft, is crucial to airport administration and passenger safety. Now they are aided by a visual display screen fitted with sensors which relays information about the aircraft when a controller merely touches the screen.
