- COI synopsis: Of all our senses, our sight is probably the most important. In this issue we look at looking - at new developments and new research which stress the crucial role of vision in helping us to interpret the world aound us. The biggest breakthrough in looking inside a patient’s body since X-rays were discovered. A computer system takes a third of a million x-ray readings in a single scan round the body, then translates them into the sort of picture which till now you’d only get by cutting a patient in half.
