- Summary
- COI synopsis: In search of the character of British women, Barbara Kelly, well-known Canadian actress, talks with a woman Member of Parliament, a woman doctor, a bus conductress, shop assistants in a famous London store, and others, and finds out something about their views and attitudes and the part they play in the life of the country. The famous cartoonist Osbert Lancaster, and the editor of a woman’s magazine, James Drawbell, offer the male point of view. Then Lady Reading [Swanborough in Completion document], one of the first women members of the House of Lords, discusses a special characteristic of the British woman - her unstinted service and devotion to the needs of the community.
