- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: International Athletics. DESCRIPTION: The stars of Track and Field Athletics gather at Crystal Palace for an International Meeting. Sprinter Sonia Lannaman made a double victory by winning both the 100 and 200 metres. Mike Tully of the USA set a new UK and All Comers Record in the Pole Vault. After a season dogged with injury, Brendan Foster came back to win the 10,000 metres and for Steve Ovett, it was an easy victory in the Mile. SHOTLIST: GV start of men’s 400 metres hurdles. Pan ditto as No 2 Colin O’Neill races past. GV towards finish Alan Pascoe and Tom Andrews (US) neck and neck. Andrews takes lead and wins. MS Pascoe and Andrews. SCU ditto. GV start of men’s 100 metres - pan as they race to finish won by Clancy Edwards (USA). MS Edwards. GV start of women’s 1000 metres pan to back view. MS pan down straight with No 8 Greta Wiatz (Norway) in lead. MS judges. LV pan Josephine White (GB) 16 years old in lead and wins with Christine Boxer (GB) 2nd. MS Josephine White. GV start of women’s 100 metres - pan as they race down track Sonia Lannaman takes lead and wins. MS Lannaman. GV Mike Tully (USA) wins pole vault of 18’_" (UK and All Comers Record). GV crowd applauding. LV towards and finish of the mile with No 12 Steve Ovett winning. MS crowd. MS Ovett. LV women’s 200 metres - down track to finish - Sonia Lannaman wins. 10,000 metres. LV start. John Wild in lead followed by Tony Simmons and Dick Quax (NZ) with Brendan Foster in 5th place. GV down straight with Foster now in 2nd place. MS Ian Stewart in lead followed by Foster. MS Foster in lead and wins. MS crowd applauding. MS Foster acknowledges crowd (victory dance).
