Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: European Three Day Event. DESCRIPTION: The European Horse Trials return again to Burghley, the last time they were staged there, the Champion was Princess Anne, this year just a spectator. The horses tackle the Endurance Test of the Cross-Country Course with few casualties. When the Competition reaches the Show Jumping Phase, Britain and Germany are in contention for the Team Championship. For Great Britain it was to be a double triumph winning the Team Event and Lucinda Prior-Palmer on ‘George’ winning the Individual Title. Miss Prior-Palmer is the first person to win the European Title twice. SHOTLIST: GV Burghley House with 2 horses in foreground. CU small girl pan to horse’s head. LV pan ‘Kadam’ (Poland) ridden by J Skoczylas approaches Double Coffin Jump - he jumps same and is then thrown. MS crowd watching. MS Skoczylas remounts, and completes jumps. LV ‘Madrigal’ (German) ridden by Karl Schultz jumps the Double Coffin zoom back. GV ‘Pontoon’ (Ireland) ridden by E Horgan finishes course. MS Prior-Palmer on ‘George’.
