Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Jumping Derby. DESCRIPTION: The All England Show Jumping Course at Hickstead was the venue for the British Jumping Derby. The winner of this though competition was young Paul Darragh of Ireland riding Pele. SHOTLIST: GV Hickstead Arena. SV pan Paul Schockemohle of Germany on ‘Girl On Course’, he knocks bar off a fence, clears another, crowd. SV pan Harvey Smith on ‘Speakeasy’ riding up the Derby Bank - jumps the fence on top, horse edges gingerly down steep bank, it refuses to jump fence at bottom. SV crowd. SV pan Eddie Machen (Irish but riding for Germany) on ‘Boomerang’ jumping fence on top of Derby Bank, horse going down bank, jumps the fence at the bottom of bank. LV pan Paddy McMahon (GB) on ‘Pennwood Forge Mill’ jumps water, clears fence. LV pan Penny Wilson on ‘Albatros’ jumps fence and knocks down bar, clears the wall. LV pan Paul Darragh (Ireland) on ‘Pele’ clearing fence & wall at 129’ (no hat on), clear round - winner. SV applauding crowd in grandstand. FV Paul Darragh on ‘Pele’ being award trophy.
