- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rugby League Cup Final. DESCRIPTION: Cup holders Warrington took on another northern side, Widnes, in the Rugby League Cup Final. Before the match Widnes were thought to be the under dogs but they proved this was wrong by winning 14 points to 7. HRH Princess Alexandra presented the Challenge Cup to the triumphant Widnes skipper, Doug Laughton. SHOTLIST: LV teams coming out. SV Warrington crowd. SV pan two teams walking on pitch. GV crowd Widnes. SV the two captains and referee tossing up, Warrington mascot boy is given coin and he tosses it, Widnes wins. CU ball. GV Warrington kick off left to right, No 1 Dutton catches it & runs forward, he is tackled by 13 Philbin back kick is taken and No 11 Foran is brought down by No 6 Whittle. FV as 12 Martyn tackles No 9 Elwell with ball. LV back kick by Warrington No 12 Martyn is taken No 9 Ashcroft runs with ball, he attempts a drop goal but fluffs it, No 8 Chisnall runs through and kicks ball up into No 5 Bevan’s hands who runs over and scores. GV crowd cheering. LV No 1 Whitehead converts it to make score 5-0. SV players congratulating each others. TV Widnes attacking but No 13 Laughton is brought down by No 6 Whittle, back kick is taken by Laughton. FV No 9 Elwell with ball passes and is then punched in the mouth by No 9 Ashcroft.
