- The ‘RHODESIA’ story in No.2217 was credited to ‘White & Library.' Was Peter Hampton confusing the 1971 meeting on HMS ‘Tiger’ with the 1968 meeting on HMS ‘Fearless,' which was credited to the Ministry of Defence.
Career
Reginald Smith was a former Ministry of Defence cameraman who afterwards worked for Movietone, his first credit being in the camera team for ‘1968’s FANTASTIC DERBY’ in British Movietone News No.2035 of June 1968. Smith’s regular work begins with ‘THE DERBY’ in No.2087A of June 1969, after which he is credited for a wide range of domestic stories. Peter Hampton [qv] recalled that in November 1971 Smith was the Movietone cameraman who filmed the meeting between Harold Wilson and Ian Smith on board HMS ‘Tiger’ for ‘RHODESIA’ in No.2217. Smith’s credits end with ‘THE RUGBY LEAGUE CUP FINAL: LEEDS v ST. HELENS’ in No.2555 of May 1978.
