Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Garter Ceremony. DESCRIPTION: The Queen conducted the ceremony - ‘The Order of the Garter’ on three new Knights. Haile Selassie, the Emperor of Ethiopia attends, Prince Charles, on special naval leave was also present. SHOTLIST: GV crowds waiting at Windsor Castle for garter ceremony. SV massed crowds waiting. Angle shot St George’s Chapel pan down as Knights come out of Chapel. SV Lord Louis Mountbatten & others down steps. SV Mountbatten takes his place on steps. SV knights and household cavalry on steps. SV Queen Mother down steps with Emperor Selassie zoom out to GV & zoom in to the Queen and Duke at top of steps. SV Queen Mother with Emperor, pan to Prince Charles pan to Queen & Duke down steps, their robes being blown about by strong wind. GV royal party down steps, zoom back to big GV royal carriage. SV Queen stepping into ditto. SV Beefeater officer saluting. CU Emperor stepping up into carriage and sits down beside Queen Mother, pan to Prince Charles siting down. SV Queen Mother and Emperor drive away in carriage. SV Duke of Norfolk with Anthony Eden and others.
