Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Shrovetide Football. DESCRIPTION: An annual event this. Shopkeepers board up their premises because the area of play takes place in the centre of the Derbyshire town of Ashbourne. There are seemingly no rules so anything can happen - and does. SHOTLIST: GV crowd walking down street. MS 2 men fixing boards to shop fronts. GV main street pan to boarded up shop front. MS boarded up shop. LS massed crowds, ball thrown in air to start game. MS pan crowds chasing man with ball, several people go into river. LS scrummage formed in river. (2) scrummage on river bank. GV crowd rushing toward river. MS scrummage back in river. LS man makes break with ball along river. GV ball being tosses in air from crowd.
