Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ulster Report. DESCRIPTION: The Orangemen marched, the troops stood by, the Catholics stayed away. Britain’s biggest security operation ever staged may have kept Ulster calm. But whatever the cause, the Orange Day parades commemorating the Protestant Victory over the Catholics at the Battle of the Boyne, remained peaceful. The marches, by 100,000 members of the Orange Order, had been considered a potential flashpoint for renewed religious violence in the province. But in the event nothing happened. Maybe it was just a victory for common sense. SHOTLIST: GV through barbed wire of street decorated with flags. 2 SVs flags zoom out to banner OUR QUEEN. Women talk to soldiers behind barricade.
