MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen Mother Visits Ark Royal. DESCRIPTION: The Queen Mother at the latest commissioning of the Aircraft Carrier Ark Royal - following the vessel’s thirty two million pound refit. A newly angled deck, rebuilt bridge and operations centre, better quarters and mess decks and stronger catapults to launch the Phantom and Buccaneer aircraft - all inspected by the Queen Mother who originally launched the ship in 1950. She also meets the youngest crew member and invites everyone to splice the mainbrace - in champagne, not rum. SHOTLIST: GV Ark Royal - pan AV Radar equipment sign.
