Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fireworks. DESCRIPTION: This year, more than ever before, we’ve all become aware of the dilemma of Fireworks NightWhat is the answer to the toll of injuries - last year two and a half thousand? Is it legislation? Is the permitted age at which children can buy fireworks too low? We ask these questions while visiting a Fireworks Factory to see the safety precautions in-built in the modern firework. The tester fires off a quarter of a million a year in the interests of quality controlAll the Manufacturers and most responsible retailers are agreed on the need to sort out the anachronisms in the law and already refuse to sell to children under age. If only parents could share the same responsibility and impress on their children the hazards of foolishness. If not, the spectacular display with which this newsreel ends may soon be the only way to enjoy a firework display. The fun and excitement of the back garden Bonfire night may soon be a thing of the past. SHOTLIST: GV fireworks on display in shop. Shots fireworks being clipped and wrapped.
