- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Soft Labour. DESCRIPTION: Britain’s first Prison Factory opens near Bisley in Surrey. To accommodate up to three hundred prisoners, it attempts to reflect the working environment outside, with a five-day, forty hour week, and more emphasis on self reliance than security. By inspiring a sense of responsibility, the Prison authorities hope to establish a more constructive road to rehabilitation.
