MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Put a Stop to It. DESCRIPTION: The Motor Industry’s new Crash laboratory has just opened at Nuneaton. A nine hundred pound car, destroyed in the cause of safety. At Farnborough a new way to stop an aircraft that overshoots a runway, arresting it in a bed of gravel. SHOTLIST: GV exterior MIRA crash laboratory at Nuneaton. CU sign MIRA. MLS technicians pulling back linear motor catapult. CU linear motor track, pan up to show BMC 1800 car on track. CU dummy with safety belt in seat of 1800 car. CU man at controls of linear induction motor. CU lights on control panel. MS man at control panel. Pan 1800 car along track & crashes into concrete block faced with steel. MCU car after hitting wall. CU dummy in car. CU hand sifting gravel in test laboratory at Farnborough. MS model of plane catapulted into bed of gravel in the laboratory, plane halted. MS gravel at end of airfield runway.
