MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tread Carefully. DESCRIPTION: To mark the introduction of the new tyre safety regulations, we consider the problems of putting a new tread on the largest tyres made - for giant earth moving equipment. SHOTLIST: MS pan large tyres waiting to be retreaded. MCU ditto, showing large hole in tread. MS man examining tyre for faults before retreading process. MCU machine removing worn tread from tyre. MS new tread sections being fitted to tyre. MCU new tread sections being hammered into position. CU heated knife taken from rack. MCU knife used to cut off excess rubber. MLS tyre in curing chamber.
