Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: How It All Began. DESCRIPTION: The pioneering days of flight are recaptured by 5 replicas of the early nineteen hundreds, being built for a forthcoming Fox Film, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. Testing the first one was Joan Hughes, an instructress at White Waltham, where it was built by Mr Douglas Bianchi. He used old photographs and drawings to recreate the little Demoiselle Monoplane, first flown in 1909. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV replica of 1909 Demoiselle Monoplane. CU steering controls. CU woman pilot Miss Joan Hughes. CU mechanic. MCU same turning propeller. GV replica pushed out into field. CU pan same. CU pilot’s hand on control. GV replica takes off. GV same in flight. GV same lands. The craft, one of five to be built for the Fox film Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, was constructed by Mr Douglas Bianchi.
