Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Farewell, Fred!. DESCRIPTION: Fred Winter, the famous jockey, gave his last appearance at Cheltenham, where he’d ridden more than 60 winners since he started his career which included 2 Grand National wins: in 1957 on Sundew and in 1962 on Kilmore. In June the same year, Fred had one of the worst experiences in his career when he was riding Mandarin in the Grand Steeplechase of Paris. Twenty fences to go, and the bit broke! But Fred went on, not only to finish, but to win! Now, instead of riding horses, he will be training them. SHOTLIST: Key scene. CU pan Fred Winter enters paddock.
