Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Meet the Shakespeares. DESCRIPTION: 1964 is the four hundredth anniversary of William Shakespeare, the great poet. Few men can feel so closely concerned with this anniversary as Harold George Shakespeare Hart, an engineer of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire: Mr Hart is the nearest living relative. He can trace his ancestry right back, though his father and his grandfather who started the engineering firm, right back to Shakespeare’s sister Joan who married a William Hart from Stratford-on-Avon. Working with Mr Hart is his son-in-law, Ronald Croxford. He and his wife Pamela Hart live on a houseboat at Bourne End, and their baby, born last year, is the latest of an historic line. Young Mark Shakespeare is the thirteenth in direct descent from the sister of the most famous poet in the English language. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS Mr Harold George Shakespeare Hart walks from van.
