- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Boat Race - Victory for Oxford. DESCRIPTION: The 109th University tussle on the Thames. Cambridge started favourites. At the end of a minute they were virtually a length ahead. But then Oxford started to glide into the picture. Their cox, steered a beautifully-judged course, and Spencer their American stroke, was on top of his form. After three minutes of nuclear-powered rowing, Oxford shot Hammersmith Bridge in the lead.
