Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Another Ice Age?. DESCRIPTION: Not since the deep freeze in 1947 have the lakes in the Royal Parks been as solid as this, and long stretches of the River Thames are frozen solid, in places for the first time in 60 years! Motorways and roads are hard hit, and snow ploughs are working overtime! Especially in Yorkshire, where 10 feet drifts slow down the work. In other parts of the county, 3 people have been killed by avalanches. And that in Britain! One of the many places completely isolated is the Fylingdales Early Warning Radar Station, high on the moors. Here, the RAF had started the biggest-ever helicopter rescue operation, bringing in supplies for essential maintenance workers and flying out men who were cut off. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
