Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Marilyn. DESCRIPTION: Marilyn Monroe, the girl who overcame an unhappy childhood to become a legend, is dead. She was born in Los Angeles, in the shadow of the Dream City which was to make her one of the immortals of the screen. Here are a few flash-backs: with Jane Russell, Marilyn makes her impression in concrete outside the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. With her second husband, baseball star Joe Di Maggio, she attended the premiere of her film The Seven Year Itch, one of her most witty performances. Her third husband, playwright Arthur Miller helped her to escape from the cover girl symbol and to realise herself as a mature and skilful actress. At the Royal Film Performance (The Battle of the River Plate) Marilyn was presented to the Queen. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS Marilyn and Jane Russell make impression outside Grauman’s Theatre.
