- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Advance in the Air - Vc10 Flight and Bristol 188. DESCRIPTION: Out of its hangar for the first time was Britain’s new giant airliner, the VC10. It can cruise at 600 miles an hour, range between 4 and 5,000 miles, and it can carry 150 passengers. When the pre-flight tests are over, it should prove a real winner. Another aircraft pointing the way to advance in the air is the Bristol 188, a research plane, designed to crash the heat barrier. Chief test pilot Godfrey Auty was taking her up on her maiden flight.
