MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cathedral Preview. DESCRIPTION: Coventry’s new cathedral is to be consecrated on May the 25th. In this model, we are looking from the nave towards the altar, behind which hangs a replica of the world’s largest tapestry by Graham Sutherland. Beside the figure of Christ in Glory is the Eagle of St John. Sir Basil Spence (architect of the new cathedral) is seen here examining a section (showing the eagle), woven experimentally before the main work was started.
