- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: White City Athletics - England V Germany. DESCRIPTION: The meeting at the White City was organised by the London Clubs. The hundred yards, one of the contests between London and Rhineland Cities was won by David Jones in nine point seven. The women’s eighty metres hurdles was another London Rhineland match. Pat Nutting forged ahead to win from Ingrid Schlundt of Rhineland. Time, eleven point one. Now for one of the relays, the four by a hundred and ten yards. London were disqualified, and this event was one of Rhineland’s victories. But London won the match by 102 points to 74. The eight eighty (a match and invitation event) was perhaps the best race of all. Peter Snell (New Zealand) was the winner. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV White City Stadium. GV crowds in stand.
