Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Tests Begin. DESCRIPTION: Cowdrey, who won the toss from Benaud, chose to bat, and the Edgbaston spectators settled down for the opening of the Test series. To face the Australian attack, out came Pullar and Subba Row. It turned out that Subba Row (with 59) was the hero of England’s disappointing first knock. 10 minutes’ cricket, and rain stopped play.
