Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Flying Visits. DESCRIPTION: Prince Philip, using a helicopter, flew to Lasham Aerodrome to see the National Gliding Championships. Many competitors (including Sergeant Williamson RAF the winner) were presented. Then, piloting the helicopter himself, Prince Philip looked in at Christchurch in Hampshire. Sir Donald Bailey (of Bailey Bridge fame) and Major General Cowley were there to receive him. Sir Donald is the director of MEXE, the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment. A new ferry was one of the exhibits that went into action for the Prince. And there was a rig for testing bridge sections. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS Prince Philip climbs out of helicopter.
