- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: SS Canberra Cruise. DESCRIPTION: The P&O Orient 45,000 ton liner Canberra is the largest passenger vessel built in Britain since the war. She has just been on a round-the-coast cruise, during which 600 lucky guests could enjoy every luxury Canberra has to offer. Everything for passenger comfort’s laid on, including three swimming pools. To-day, more than ever, ocean travel has to meet strong competition from air travel. The men who designed and built Canberra were aware of this. She was the centre of great interest off Brixham (in Devon). The cruise took her from the Clyde to Dover and then back to Southampton. Captain Wild commands this wonderfully-equipped liner. SHOTLIST: GV Canberra at sea. GV same. LS fore-deck. MS bridge. CU Captain Wild. Pan engine room. MS control panel. MS same. MS same.
