Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Nepal Welcomes Queen in Colour. DESCRIPTION: The welcome at Katmandu was led by the King and Queen of Nepal. Attended by generals and other Nepalese leaders, they awaited their royal guests. For the drive through the capital, there was a magnificent carriage and escort. One feature of the 4-day visit was the tiger shoot, in which over 300 elephants played their important part. Lord Home and Rear-Admiral Bonham Carter were also there. The Queen’s last engagement was her review of 13,000 men of the Nepalese Army. To take the salute on such an occasion is regarded as a very high honour. The parade, in fact, was held as a supreme compliment to Her Majesty. The final scene was at the airport, where the royal farewells were exchanged. In Nepal, as in every country visited, the Queen’s tour has been an outstandingly brilliant success. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS the King and Queen of Nepal. MCU sign ‘Katmandu Airport’.
