- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England V France. DESCRIPTION: The French fifteen were first out at Twickenham, where rugger fans were all agog to see whether England could deal with them or not. There had been heavy rains before the start, and the first half was a real slogging match, the ground so greasy that every promising movement soon got bogged down in the mud. Half time came with no score, but on the resumption, England were soon driving forward on the attack. Full back John Wilcox scored a goal, but the Frenchmen were quick to take revenge. Result: five all. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV French team coming out. MS crowd. GV England team coming out. LS kick off. MS play. MLS to MS play MS play. GV French attack stopped. LS play. GV crowd.
