- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Norway’s Gift. DESCRIPTION: Seen docking in the Thames at Deptford, a ship with a very handsome figurehead had brought over Norway’s Christmas present for London. Every year, the Norwegians send a splendid Christmas tree, a token of friendship that is most welcome. To the kids, who see it lit up in Trafalgar Square, it will bring delight, as ever year. At the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, a sign of the season much appreciated by the old warriors was the ceremony of the Christmas cheeses. Aided by Sir Brian Horrocks, Sergeant Jones, aged 96, cut through a cheese, and the game was on. Cheese for all, wine for the guests, and there was beer for the troops. Cheese certainly raises a thirst, and an old soldier can’t have too much of that! SHOTLIST: Various shots of Christmas tree being unloaded from ship at the docks. Shots of pieces being loaded onto lorry. Shot of lorry as it is driven away. Shots of tree being erected in Trafalgar Square. Slip pan to various shots of pensioners taking cheese and beer at the ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses. CU and GVs of toasting by Sir Brian Horrocks.
