- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Big Fire. DESCRIPTION: This blazing warehouse near Piccadilly, Manchester, was described by the Fire Chief as the city’s worst fire since in the blitz. The building was an old one, and it was filled with highly inflammable furniture. 6 storeys high and 300 yards long, the warehouse, burning from end to end, was a write-off. Several firemen were injured, when walls collapsed, and early estimates put the loss at a million pounds. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV blazing warehouse (night). GV same. Pan along blazing warehouse.
