- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Transport Topics. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the Cushioncraft, which will carry bananas, without bruising, from plantation to river. It’s hoped to use the first, fully-tested Cushioncraft in the Cameroons. Evidence of British Railways’ progress in their stream-lining and modernisation programme is the new Diesel-Electric Pullman train. It’s a luxury express with improved comfort, such as double windows; with adjustable venetian blinds between the panes of glass, adjustable armchairs, and smooth, almost silent travel. Transport topics in the Royal Armoured Corps are rather different, but the armour is extremely impressive. This tank can lay bridges, and our pictures show a Centurion Bridge-layer in action. The demonstration was being given at the RAC Centre in Dorset. Of particular interest was the Australian Malkara guided rocket, fired by the Guided Weapon Wing of the Corps.
