Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Australia - New Governor General. DESCRIPTION: Mr Menzies, the Prime Minister, led the welcome to Viscount Dunrossil, Australia’s new Governor General. The Premier’s sister deputised for Dame Pattie, who was overseas. Lord Dunrossil then inspected the Air Force Guard of Honour at Canberra’s airport. Next day, the scene was set for the swearing-in ceremony in the Senate Chamber of Parliament House. The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the High Court, Sir Owen Dixon.
