MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mac Meets the People. DESCRIPTION: One way of meeting the Very Important People in Ghana could be seen, when Mr Macmillan came with Dr Nkrumah to attend a reception in Accra. It was a formal occasion, but one, nevertheless, at which Britain and Ghana could really get together, and talk. Mr Macmillan was learning about Ghana’s new harbour at Tema, and he saw a model of the port, the first stage of which is about completed. Meanwhile, a school received a visit from Lady Dorothy Macmillan. She’d come to meet the pickaninnies, and she must have found them as cheerful a bunch of kids as you’d find anywhere! Mr Macmillan later paid a visit to the market in Accra. Akwaaba Mac (welcome), shouted the market Mammies, and they fairly mobbed Britain’s Premier.
