Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Highlights of Royal Tour. DESCRIPTION: Boarding their special train at Kamloops, the Queen and Prince Philip were resuming their tour, after a brief private holiday at Ponnask Lake. Big crowds were there to see them off on the journey to Vancouver, through the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia. There was a big welcome at Queen’s Park, New Westminster, a Canadian City with quite a cosmopolitan flavour, to judge by the national costume turn-out in the stadium. In Victoria, during a garden party at Government House, a pair of peregrine falcons were presented to Prince Philip. The formal opening of the Deas Island Tunnel was an important royal engagement. Her Majesty and the Prince then drove through the tunnel under the Fraser River, a new link on the highway to the City of Vancouver. SHOTLIST: Prince Philip handles falcon. Various scenes. MS rostrum - Queen cuts tape. GV crowds at entrance to Deas tunnel. Pan Queen and Prince in open car, tracking along tunnel same showing cars, tracking outside tunnel, slip pan. Tracking shot - Rocky Mountains. Various scenes.
