- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: State Visit of President Heuss. DESCRIPTION: At Victoria Station, Her Majesty the Queen, her Prime Minister, and other members of her Government, waited to welcome the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Professor Theodor Heuss. President Heuss was very touched by the warmth of the royal greetings on this, the first German State visit to Britain in half a century. After inspecting the Guard of Honour, the State drive began. With Her Majesty and Prince Philip, President Heuss was seated in the first of five carriages and there were quite large crowds all along the route. The programme of the visit began that night with a State banquet in the honour of Her Majesty’s guest. SHOTLIST: LS parade along Mall. TS platform. MS Queen waiting. MS train arrives same.
