DESCRIPTION: At Kingston harbour, a launch brought the Governor General of the new West Indian Federation ashore on his first official visit to Jamaica. Lord Hailes was received by the Governor, Sir Kenneth Blackburne. Next, a greeting from the Mayor, Councillor Balfour Barnswell, from whom the Governor-General received the keys of the city in token of welcome to the Queen’s representative.
