Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fire at Smithfield Market. DESCRIPTION: Acrid, poisonous fumes and smoke, pouring from the underground store rooms at Smithfield meat market, gave London fire-fighters a difficult task. Two lost their lives trying to locate the source of the fire. After five hours the heart of the fire was found in the insulation of the cold store.
