Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Moscow Parade. DESCRIPTION: This year’s parade in Moscow’s Red Square was extra special. For it marked the fortieth anniversary of the October Revolution. There was a notable innovation right at the start. Marshal Malinovsky took the place of Marshal Zhukov. The first part of the march-past followed tradition, with large ranks of men (representing all the fighting services) stamping across the square. Next the Army’s fighting vehicles. And then came the evidence of the rocket age. After the military parade, organised groups of civilians paraded with banners that proclaim their Communist faith. Khrushchev and China’s Mao Tse-Tung watching as the Soviet satellite was demonstrated. The people of Moscow were delighted by this year’s celebration in honour of that revolution of forty years ago.
