- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cyprus Demonstrations. DESCRIPTION: A Greek Anniversary, celebrated in Cyprus:- Oxi Day recalling the Greek people’s rejection of Mussolini’s ultimatum to surrender in 1940. The Cyprus Government forbade any demonstrations which could lead to a breach of the peace, but riot squads were called out to break-up crowds shouting slogans. Twenty-three people were injured. SHOTLIST: GV Ledra Street. LS boys hoisting flags. MS same. GV flags being hoisted. Flags across street. MS Police car on patrol outside church. MS same. BS entering church. LS church.
