Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: India’s New Plan. DESCRIPTION: India today is a country of astonishing contrasts. It’s a land of ancient cults and temples. In harmony with relics of a past era the life of the people often show little change from the days of old. India’s symbolic wheel, however, is now beginning to roll forward into the new age of mechanisation. At the big Telco works at Tatanagar, cars and heavy duty trucks are being manufactured. At Sindri, perhaps the largest fertiliser factory in Asia underlines India’s aim of becoming self-supporting. Her industrial revolution includes the construction of Dams for irrigation purposes and hydro-power. The Hirakud is an example. A vast increase in the production of steel is another vital part of India’s huge programme. Coal production has also been given a high priority. SHOTLIST: Pan up to temple. SCU GV.
